India Shining?

Abhinav Bindra won the first individual gold medal ever… Kudos to him..

But I have been laughing my socks off at the great circus that our media is…

First there is this-

CNN-IBN: Would you say this win makes Abhinav an even more eligible bachelor. As a mother what would you say about that?

Babli Bindra: Well, I agree that this makes him an even more eligible bachelor and I’m sure all mothers would feel that way.

CNN-IBN: And what does Abhinav have to say about his ‘eligible bachelor’ label?

Babli Bindra: I haven’t spoken to him after he’s become the first Indian individual to win a gold medal at the Olympics. But I think it’s a bit too early to talk about him getting married. He should first enjoy his win and when the time comes we’ll talk about that as well.

So reason number one to win a gold medal in India is- to become the most eligible bachelor..

Ready for the second reason?

After winning India’s first individual gold at the Olympics, Abhinav Bindra can charge at least Rs 20 million per endorsement – an amount commanded by top Indian cricketers, says the sports management firm that representing the shooting ace.

SO that is the second reason right there– To be able to command a fee as good as Dhoni…

And then in the aftermath of the medal Bindra was asked very intellectual and technical questions as well so that his bachelor eligibility and brand eequity went up by that one more notch..

Beijing: Making history was not on shooter Abhinav Bindra’s mind when he took aim for the Olympic men’s 10m air rifle title on Monday.

In fact, before he made the crucial winning shot, he wasn’t thinking about anything.

I was at the Radiohead concert a couple of days ago

I hadn’t heard much of their music before but was enthralled for two hours by their haunting tones. Probably  because i did not know the lyrics i noticed the amazing sync of the light show that went with their music. There was probabaly a crowd 20000 strong and yet it did not feel that at all in the sense that parking the car getting in and settling down was so easy that i was really amazed at how easy it is with proper organization and little a teeny weeny bit of discipline.

I was wearing my T again which resulted in some pleasant perks ..:D

1) when you go back to the beer stand an hour and probabaly 2000 people later the person at the bar stand looks the T and says– hey – smiles and says- I dont need to see an ID i remember you..:D

2) when you get back to the 10000 strong lawn crowd and are looking for your friend standing there somewhere in there unknown strangers you never noticed recognize you smile smugly and point towards where you where…
