India Shining?

Abhinav Bindra won the first individual gold medal ever… Kudos to him..

But I have been laughing my socks off at the great circus that our media is… ๐Ÿ˜€

First there is this-

CNN-IBN: Would you say this win makes Abhinav an even more eligible bachelor. As a mother what would you say about that?

Babli Bindra: Well, I agree that this makes him an even more eligible bachelor and I’m sure all mothers would feel that way.

CNN-IBN: And what does Abhinav have to say about his ‘eligible bachelor’ label?

Babli Bindra: I haven’t spoken to him after he’s become the first Indian individual to win a gold medal at the Olympics. But I think itโ€™s a bit too early to talk about him getting married. He should first enjoy his win and when the time comes weโ€™ll talk about that as well.

So reason number one to win a gold medal in India is- to become the most eligible bachelor.. ๐Ÿ˜€

Ready for the second reason?

After winning India’s first individual gold at the Olympics, Abhinav Bindra can charge at least Rs 20 million per endorsement โ€“ an amount commanded by top Indian cricketers, says the sports management firm that representing the shooting ace.

SO that is the second reason right there– To be able to command a fee as good as Dhoni… ๐Ÿ˜€

And then in the aftermath of the medal Bindra was asked very intellectual and technical questions as well so that his bachelor eligibility and brand eequity went up by that one more notch..

Beijing: Making history was not on shooter Abhinav Bindra’s mind when he took aim for the Olympic men’s 10m air rifle title on Monday.

In fact, before he made the crucial winning shot, he wasn’t thinking about anything.

๐Ÿ˜€ย ย  ๐Ÿ˜€ย  … what more can I say… Idiots!

  1. I am laughing and now we don’t have to win a gold medal for another 20 years!

  2. All ye idiots! Wait for some more time before you laugh your lives out. Let him come to India. Pratibha Patil will meet him (Remember this lady? That saree clad nondescript woman somewhere in New Delhi) Then Sonia Gandhi will meet him to offer congratulations followed by Manmohan Singh. Then Punjab CM has to meet him. Everyone would be saying the same thing in different words “He has made every Indian proud and has become a hope or a beacon for hope etc.,”. Then Punjab CM has to offer his Rs.20 lakhs cash award and then 20 acres of fertile land followed by an apartment in Chandigarh. Seems this guy is an MBA from University of Colorado, Boulder. So the Indian Student Association has to organize some function to celebrate the success of their alumni. Of course he has to act in ads and Bollywood would beckon. 40 years down the line he is likely to be still the last Indian to win the Gold medal and would be Chairing the Indian Olympic Committee.
    Hmmph.

  3. And whats with this ‘Most eligible bachelor’ thing. It is one of the oft used & abused phrase in modern media. If CNN-IBN is maintaining a list of bachelors in India ranked in an order of eligibility to the same, I demand that they make it public. Even low rung eligible bachelors (like yours truly) would like to see how they fair among others.

  4. How can you make such silly statements Filarial!!
    Haven’t you checked http://www.shaadi.crap?
Every girl wants a shooter for a husband.. it’s on every groom-hunter’s shopping list.

    ๐Ÿ˜
    No, really!!

“CNN-IBN: And what does Abhinav have to say
    about his โ€˜eligible bachelorโ€™ label?”
Gimme a break! Imagine, he guy wins a medal.. and the mom calls him up immediately and goes “Beta!! Don’t you think this makes you an eligible bachelor? What’s your take on your new eligibility status?”

    *puke puke*
Is he winning for the country or for the credentials on the wedding invitation?
Actually poor guy.. he can be blamed for the media’s antics

    As for ‘Beijing’… I’m speechless… and for me that’s a phenomena
    ๐Ÿ˜

I’ll echo you on the ‘Idiots’ though

    *passes the popcorn*

  5. Did you hear about the farce that happened in Beijing regarding a 7 year old kid who sang at the opening ceremony? Seems the girl who actually sang the national anthem did not have perfect teeth (for a 7 yr old !!!!) and was forced to dub for a cuter girl ๐Ÿ˜€
Here is what the musical designer had to say:
“We should all understand it like this: it is a question of the national interest. It is a question of the image of our national music, our national culture. Especially at the entrance of our national flag, this is an extremely important, an extremely serious matter. So we made the choice. I think it is fair to both Lin Miaoke and Yang Peiyi – after all, we have a perfect voice, a perfect image and a perfect show, in our team’s view, all together.”
=)) and look at this http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26139005/
I demand an editorial on this by N.Ram B-)

  11. The indian media is a complete shit , this headless media has made the boxer vijender a model and he has even walked the ramp walk on some of the popular fashion designer..

Can’t they find any new charming model. why dont they leave a performing player to perform to his best.

Hope someday people realize why is it that india hardly claims medaly while there is a rain of gold in china :((
